Oh the aromas of the holidays, baked apples, pumpkin pies, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves galore! We use our senses of sound, touch, sight, taste and smell to thrive. Misuse of the senses through underutilization, over-utilization can lead to imbalances in the body. One of the goals of Ayurveda is to keep the senses balanced and we do this through diet, lifestyle and through the use of aromatic essential oils and soaps. Lavender, eucalyptus and sandalwood are commonly used to relax the mind, create a sense of tranquility and provide protection to the body through their anti-fungal, antiseptic properties and respiratory effects. Ease sells lavender, eucalyptus and sandalwood essential oils or soaps. I commonly recommend the use of lavender to promote sleep and reduce anxiety.
